Storymix in the Spotlight: Jasmine Richards Featured in The Week Junior

Updated: Nov 6

We are excited to share that Jasmine Richards, the founder of Storymix, was recently featured in The Week Junior! The article titled Creating Stories for Everyone talks about Jasmine’s journey and the mission behind Storymix—a creative studio dedicated to crafting inclusive stories for children that celebrate diverse characters and experiences.

As highlighted in the piece, Jasmine’s inspiration for starting Storymix came from her personal experience. Growing up, she loved reading but rarely saw characters that looked like her or shared her experiences in the books she enjoyed. This feeling intensified when she became a mother and struggled to find books for her own son that reflected his heritage. Determined to change this, Jasmine set out to create a platform where young readers could finally see themselves in the stories they love.

The article emphasises Storymix’s ongoing mission to bring more diverse heroes to the forefront of children’s literature. Jasmine and her team have made significant strides, producing more than 25 books and selling over 350,000 copies to date.

One particularly powerful aspect of the feature is how it touches on the need for more inclusive stories in the publishing world, not just for young readers but for inspiring future generations of storytellers. Jasmine’s vision for Storymix is to ensure that every child feels seen, and the books they read reflect the world around them.

We are incredibly proud to have this important mission recognised in The Week Junior. Representation in children’s literature isn’t just about characters on a page—it’s about letting all children know they are welcome in the world of reading.

A huge thank you to The Week Junior for featuring us and helping spread the word about the work we do. Be sure to keep an eye out for more exciting stories and adventures from Storymix in the near future!
